Goris Nazari and Dr. Joy MacDermid awarded a CRE-MSD seed grant

Congratulations to Goris Nazari (PhD candidate, Western University) and Dr. Joy MacDermid for receiving a Centre of Research Expertise for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders (CRE-MSD)  seed grant funding for the study, “The effectiveness of web-based therapeutic exercise and education to prevent work loss injury in firefighters: A pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT).”

The main goal of this RCT is to preserve work ability and active duty in firefighters by preventing shoulder strains/over-exertion from becoming serious work-loss shoulder injuries. This will be accomplished by providing an innovative web-based exercise and education program that can be completed in the station or at home. This new web-based exercise and education program will be compared to an education alone.
