Study #1 ( Online survey): A new tool for measuring work limitations in firefighters
Principle Investigator: Dr. Joy MacDermid, PhD, Western University
Aim: To test if a new tool, Firefighter Work Limitations Questionnaire (FF-WLQ-36), is reliable in in assessing the impact of health problems on career and volunteer firefighters’ ability to do their work roles.

Study #2 (Online survey): Workplace stressors and indicators of heart disease among firefighters

Co-Investigator: Sara Stretton, PhD candidate, Western University
Aim: To identify psychosocial treatment targets within the work environment to aid firefighters in stress management and subsequently cardiovascular health.

Study #3 (Online interview): Experiences in treatment and recovery for acute cardiac events among firefighters
Principle Investigator: Dr. Joy MacDermid, PhD, Western University

Aim: To gain a better understanding of the recovery/treatment process for heart disease among firefighters, with a specific focus on the mental health component of recovery and treatment after a cardiac event.
