The purpose of this research is to evaluate the impact of tailored organizational implementation strategies for PeerOnCall in the fire service. PeerOnCall is a mobile peer support app platform designed by and for Canadian public safety personnel. In order to provide flexible options for peer support, we are building a national team of trained peer supporters who would be accessible to app users over the 12-month implementation period.
We are looking for current or former career or volunteer firefighters aged 18 and above to participate. Participation involves providing peer support via text or phone (self-determined schedule) through the PeerOnCall app over a one-year period, along with completing brief research activities.
Participation in this study is voluntary, and all collected data will be kept confidential and used solely for research purposes. Peer supporters will receive a small honorarium, with additional compensation for time spent providing support (tentatively April 2026 – April 2027)
