NEW FIREWELL Paper: Prevalence and distribution of musculoskeletal disorders in firefighters are influenced by age and length of service

A FIREWELL research study on the high prevalence of painful sites and burden of musculoskeletal disorders in firefighters was recently published in the Journal of Military, Veteran and Family Health.

This study was led by Dr. Joy MacDermid (Western University & McMaster University), Dr. Kathryn Sinden (Lakehead University) and Mr. Robert D’Amico (Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association) and conducted in partnership with the Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association and the Hamilton Fire Department.
